Rod Holmes and Doug Wilson

- a phrase every surfer knows, in an international sport of grace and grit, poise and power. It means, simply, that you missed a good swell with good friends. It also hints at a journey back to a time when swells seemed stronger, sunny days lasted longer. Thirty years have passed since surfing came to the UK. This book is about that dawn. So join the crew ~ and paddle out into yesteryear...

Doug Wilson came to Cornwall in 1959 as a lifeguard and surf photographer. His images from the early sixties record that faraway place of young dreams, no crowds, golden sunsets, good friends, the shock of cold, clear blue water and the sheer outrageous, electrifying slide across a glass-smooth face of a perfect wave.

Rod Holmes began surfing in the late 60's in Newquay. Former member of the North-East-West Surf Club, Croyde Surf Club, and Newquay Boardriders and a past President of the English Surfing Federation.
